LISTING FOR INFORMATION ONLY - NOT AVAILABLE FOR RESERVATION This is a mooring buoy owned and operated by Washington State Parks. More info at https://www.parks.wa.gov/494/Cutts-Island or https://www.parks.wa.gov/648/Moorage. Actual moorage condition may differ from this listing. Cutts Island Marine State Park is proof that good things come in small packages. One-half mile from Kopachuck State Park, this intriguing little island offers the perfect day at the beach. This park can only be reached by water, so canoeists, kayakers and stand up paddlers mingle on the sandy beach with boaters, divers and seals (the latter of which should be given a very wide berth). After your paddle, scuba dive or nap on the beach, head back to the mainland for a picnic dinner at forested Kopachuck State Park. Tie your boat to a mooring buoy and fall asleep to the sound of gentle waves and the occasional bark of a seal. PARK FEATURES Cutts Island is a 351-acre marine park on Carr Inlet. Though camping is not permitted on the island, mooring buoys are available for boats. The island is covered with vegetation, including poison oak. During seal pup season, pups will rest on the beach during low tide. Federal law prohibits touching, feeding and disturbing marine mammals, so visitors, including dogs, are required to stay at least 100 yards from seals and their pups. BOATING FEATURES Located in Pierce County in the Puget Sound, Cutts Island offers scuba diving, and there is an underwater park located half-mile south of the park, off the beach of Kopachuck State Park. There is a natural spit on the north side of the island. Boaters should be careful as the water can get shallow in this area. The nearest pumpout is located south of the park at Penrose State Park. Additional information can be found in the Boating Program. BOAT MOORAGE There are eight buoys available. Moorage fees are charged year round for mooring at docks, floats, and buoys from 1 p.m. to 8 a.m. The moorage buoy fee is $15 per night payable at the pay station across from the picnic shelter along the lower beach access road at Kopachuck State Park.
