North Landing Portsmouth, VA
.2 StM Portsmouth, VA – North Landing – Located in the heart of Historic Portsmouth. Free dockage including free self-service pump out. 36-hour limit, no more than 3 days in 30-day period. Visitor’s Center is located at the dock. There are reports that the dock is a few inches under water at high tide. The ferry to Norfolk ($3 cost) runs from adjacent dock. ICW FREE DOCKS contributor Deb Akey reported on September 20, 2018 that there is a 40’ vessel limit at both Portsmouth, VA free docks.
ICW FREE DOCKS talked with Edie at the Visitors Center on 10/31/18. She stated that both the North Landing and High Street docks are open. There is some damage at the North Landing docks, but they can still accommodate 3-4 boats. The No Docking sign is there because of the damaged docks area but doesn’t pertain to the entire dock. It is recommended that anyone planning to stay at North Landing or High Street contact the Visitors Center for current information about the status of these docks.
